He came, he saw and he conquered! Singer Sonu Nigam held thousands of music lovers in Delhi in thrall with his energetic and soulful rendition of his chartbusters from Bollywood films, at a live concert in the Capital.
At the concert last night, which started nearly one and a half hours after its scheduled time, the prolific and versatile singer had the audience eating out his hands with his energetic rendition of the songs and witty remarks.
Sonu had the audience of over 20,000 music lovers at the Talkatora stadium, the venue of the concert – organised by the Non Governmental organisation Maa Foundation – dancing to his tunes with his soulful rendition of his Hindi film chartbursers like ‘Shukran Allah’ from ‘Kurban’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ from ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ from ‘Border’.
He was his naughty self, sending the audiences in splits when he created a song out of the words like ‘Aalu, Gobhi, Mooli Matar Paneer’ and also when he indulged in mimicry of singers like Anu Malik, Himmesh Reshammiya and Bhappi Lahiri.
The performance of Sonu reminded one of the concerts of the Legendary Singer Kishore Kumar whose music concerts were always bubbling with lot of energy.
Rajya Sabha member Mani Shankar Aiyar was the chief guest at the event, organised by Maa Foundation in collaboration with the NTPC and IFFCO, which also witnessed the presence of Mr Balram Jakhar and MLA of Delhi Assembly Mateen Ahmed.
Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of the Maa Foundation Muskaan Pandey said the proceeds of the concert would go towards garnering resources for neglected children.
”There are countless little kids who unfortunately happen to be orphans and lack things like parental care and love. They also lack a vital necessity in their life- a permanent place to live which they can call their home. Maa Foundation is a humble attempt to gather resources to provide shelter to these less fortunate kids. The price which you will pay for your amusement can be a very important brick in building homes for these deprived kids. Money collected through the passes of these event will be used to provide a place to live for these children, ”she saidhttp://hotmedia2010.blogspot.com/
