SoBe Arts launches Shakespeare Series


If you're a big fan of the Renaissance era, here is your chance to feel like you've traveled back in time! Tonight, March 12th, is the opening event for the SoBe Arts Music & Shakespeare Series: Renaissance Chamber Music (8:oo p.m.). The concert is free to the public and will take place at the SoBe Institute of the Arts on 2100 Washington Avenue, South Beach. The SoBe Arts Chamber Ensemble will treat you to the same music William Shakespeare would jam to if he had an Ipod!! Starting next week, you can also check out SoBe Art's special production of Shakespeare's romantic comedy, "Twelfth Night" (March 18- April 4). Each performance is directed by the talented Carson Kievman who will transport you to an Elizabethan garden where wine, love, and illusion take over. The Florida Renaissance Festival

Have you been dying to show off your best Renaissance costume? The time has arrived! The Florida Renaissance Festival is coming to Virginia Key Beach Park (4020 Virginia Beach Drive) starting this Saturday, January 9th. The event takes place every weekend for three consecutive weeks (ends Jan. 24rth). Whether you enjoy watching Renaissance Court Dancers or the Washing Well Wenches, there is definitely something for everyone. Cheer Battling Knights, as they mount their steeds, lower their visors, aim their lances and charge at full tilt. There are barrel rides, musical performers, live chess matches, giant roasted turkey legs and plenty of RenFaeries. Take a stroll through some interesting shops that feature glass blowing, wooden toys, unique pottery and clothing. Get into a Renaissance state-of-mind and join the fun! Tickets are $20 for adults and $7 for children.
